Something from Australia, from SBS network:

An emotional Penny Wong broke down when she learned Australia had voted Yes to legalising same-sex marriage alongside her Senate colleagues.

A number of federal parliamentarians gathered in Canberra to watch a live broadcast of the postal survey result on Wednesday.

Senator Wong, who has spoken passionately in favour of a Yes vote, shed tears upon hearing the result and was embraced by her colleagues.

The Australian Bureau of Statistics announced 61.6 per cent had voted in favour of legalising same-sex marriage.

From Wiki: Penelope Ying-Yen "Penny" Wong is an Australian politician who has represented South Australia in the Senate since 2002, and is the current Leader of the Opposition in the Senate.

Born in Malaysia to an Australian mother and Malaysian father, Wong attended the University of Adelaide, graduating with Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws degrees.

Prior to entering Federal parliament, Wong worked as a lawyer and political advisor.

Wong is the first Asian-born member of an Australian cabinet. She is the first female openly-LGBTI Australian federal parliamentarian and federal government cabinet minister, and supports legalising same-sex marriage in Australia despite previously opposing it.

Well done Penny, we Malaysians are proud of you, having served in Rudd's government as Minister for Climate Change and Water following the 2007 election and also as Minister for Finance and Deregulation in the Gillard Government.

The advantages of same sex marriage is listed here.
