MM Online - Seniman: Revoke Namewee’s citizenship over repeated provocations (extracts):

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 19 — An artistes’ group suggested that the government revoke rapper Wee Meng Chee or Namewee’s citizenship over his latest music video controversy.

Malaysian Artiste Association (Seniman) president Rozaidi Abd Jamil, popularly known as Zed Zaidi, claimed Namewee has repeatedly been provocative towards Malaysia’s cultural and religious sensitivities with his performances and behaviour.

Hey, why doesn't Seniman ask for the citizenship of the following assh*les to be revoked NOT ONLY for highly provocative ethnic, cultural and religious INsensitivity but also for tingkah-laku TA'MALU:

(a) Zamihan Mat Zin who described Chinese people as being “unhygienic” but doesn't have any shame in accepting his salary paid probably/mostly by 'unhygienic sources, and

chewed by 2 Sultans & banned from preaching-lecturing in Selangor

According to a statement from the Selangor Council of the Royal Court on behalf of the Sultan, the sermon given by Zamihan contained words which were racist in nature, uncouth and included uncalled for criticism of the royal institution

(b) Ismail Sabri a.k.a Bapak Low-Ar 2 who in 2015 was described by Azmi Sharon (a University Malaya law lecturer) as not only a bullshitter but a batu api (provocateur), claiming “... that only the Chinese oppress consumers” and “... only consumers who are being oppressed have been the Malays”.

Ismail Sabri had then called on Malays to boycott Chinese traders but subsequently (a mere 3 months later) shamelessly and with rhino-hide urged non-Malays to support his Malays-only Low-Ar 2 mall and to emulate their Malay counterparts whom he described as “colour blind” in their shopping preferences. Utterlay shameless lah. Well, those Malay traders might be but we know Ismail Sabri wasn't, wakakaka.

Ismail Sabri

he created the Malays-only Low-Ar 2
to rival LowYat mall because of a snatch thief, drug addict, violent thug and convicted criminal

Then there is also Ibrahim Ali and a host of others like him.

But you know something?

No one can revoke Namewee's citizenship, yes, no one.

Namewee was born Wee Meng Chee on 6 May 1983 in Muar, Johor, Malaysia as a Malaysian.

Lawyer and constitutional law activist Syahredzan Johan informed us (via Star Online) that the citizenship of those born as Malaysians (ie. pasturised, not naturalised) is protected and guaranteed under Part III of the Federal Constitution.

Syahredzan Johan

“Even if you do something disloyal, or give the country a bad image… that cannot be a reason for your citizenship to be revoked."

“For example, those who were involved in the Al-Ma’unah movement, they were charged and convicted of waging war against the Yang di-Pertuan Agong … even their citizenships cannot be revoked,” he explains.

The only way a person who has been born a Malaysian citizen can have his citizenship revoked is if he obtains the citizenship of another country, as Malaysia does not recognise dual citizenship.

But for those who have been naturalised, ie. not born Malaysian but gaining their citizenship by application (eg. those allegedly naturalised under the Project IC secret scheme or allegedly as rumoured, a certain Indian Muslim preacher) can have their citizenship stripped for a variety of reasons. I won't go into these here.

But did you know that Mahathir had called for Ambiga Sreenevasan to be stripped of her citizenship?

In 2013 Ibrahim Ali and Mahathir wanted to have Ambiga's citizenship stripped for being involved with BERSIH

The same Star Online reported that in early 2013 (extracts):

Many individuals, including Ibrahim
[Ali], ........ and even former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad have called for Ambiga’s citizenship to be revoked, following her involvement with Bersih.

In reaction, Penang Gerakan leader Baljit Singh demanded for Ibrahim’s citizenship to be revoked, saying the Perkasa chief has committed treason in questioning the “King’s decision to grant a royal audience to Ambiga”.

Earlier this year, Dr Mahathir reportedly said the Government needed to amend the constitution if it wanted to strip the citizenship of lawyers such as Ambiga.

A retired judge has alleged that Dr Mahathir Mohamad and former attorney-general (AG) Abu Talib Othman were behind the amendment to the Federal Constitution in 1988, which removed the judicial power of the courts.

Gopal Sri Ram said this came about after the then Supreme Court ruled in the case of Public Prosecutor v Yap Peng that the AG, who is also the public prosecutor, could not at his discretion apply to transfer criminal cases for trial.

In 1987, the apex court in a majority 3-2 ruling held that the public prosecutor’s move to use Section 418A of the Criminal Procedure Code was against Article 121 (1).The majority held that the power to transfer cases was an exercise of judicial power.

Wakakaka, another of his multifarious amendments of the already much mutilated Constitution lah!

But Syahredzan Johan advised that the issue of citizenship is a very serious one, saying:

“Any amendment to the constitution requires a two-thirds majority in Parliament, but an amendment to Part III has an additional safeguard. It also requires the consent of the Conference of Rulers, as provided for under Article 159(5).

“That is how serious the constitution views the issue of citizenship.”

Hope Mahathir knows that by now, and if he hasn't, can Lim Kit Siang please let him know, wakakaka.
