Chinese Finance Minister Redux

From MM Online:

quite parsimonious in his personal lifestyle, he may make a good Finance Minister
wakakaka

PETALING JAYA, May 12 — Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad today unveiled the first three candidates for his Cabinet line-up, which comprises Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) top leaders.

DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng has been appointed finance minister; which means PH will likely have to pick another chief minister in Penang.

Amanah president Mohamad Sabu has been appointed defence minister; while Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has been made home minister.

This is history in the re-making, where a Chinese Malaysian becomes the Finance Minister once AGAIN.

The last Chinese Malaysian to be Finance Minister was Tun Tan Siew Sin, but of MCA, 44 years ago.

Tun Tan was so respected by Tun Razak that the PM ordered the Armed Forces and the Police to also salute Tun Tan, where out of the cabinet, only the PM, DPM and Defence Minister merited a military salute.

But Tun Tan failed in one respect, the DPM-ship. He wanted to be DPM but in his time, that was just a Malay bridge too far. Tun Razak had to disappoint him.

And the most bizarre incongruity was that eventually it was another MCA man, Ling Liong Sik, who became interim-PM of Malaysia for (I think) one day when UMNO had its constitutional crisis, wakakaka.

once I was watching the news on TV with my Malay matey when Ling answered reporters' questions in fluent Malay. My matey then told me Ling was a man to watch (for political greatness) as he was very diplomatic, careful and circumspect in his responses to the reporters

But wait, double that history-making, recall that Lim Guan Eng was once a jailbird, though we all knew he was jailed after being betrayed by a sweetie he defended (after being visited and appealed to by sweetie's granny). It is indeed history because he has moved on from being a former prisoner to being CM of Penang to being the Finance Minister of Malaysia.

But I have to admit I still don't like him for his rude disrespectful treatment of DAP veteran Dr Tan Seng Giaw, wakakaka, though I have to respect his political achievements and progress. He provides the inspiration for young Chinese Malaysians to work hard and be successful.

My commiseration to Azmin Ali for missing out on two of his most sought-after cabinet positions (besides being PM, wakakaka), namely, Finance and Home.

fCk fCk, now let me see what I can do

And last but not least, my congratulations to Chow Kon Yeow who is now likely to become the new CM of Penang.

Chow, check those hill-slope developments in Penang please
