MM Online - Rafidah: New govt needs time, the least one can do is help PM (extracts):

KUALA LUMPUR, May 16 — The new government needs ample time to re-strategise and implement policy measures which includes the abolition of toll and the Goods and Services Tax (GST), says former international trade and industry minister, Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz.

“The least that we can do, right now, is to help the prime minister. Tun Dr Mahathir is on the right track as these are the first few steps, and it is a very long track,” she told Bernama in an interview here today.

Isn't it wonderful, that while the new Mahathir government is thus far a one-man show, basically Mahathir himself, he is assisted by Daim Zainuddin and Rafidah Aziz, thus giving the impression it's actually a government of three a la the Father, Buddy and Lady.

Both Daim Zainuddin and Rafidah Aziz are, what former Australian PM Paul Keating would call, 'unrepresentative swill'.

While Paul Keating meant something peculiar to the Australian Senate where its honorable members were accused of sloshing around like 'swill', wakakaka, we in Malaysia right now may define that term as the two being NOT elected yet having the authority to say this and that to us as if they are part of the cabinet of the new government.

Of course we are aware that Daim has been chosen by his old Boss to be Chair of the Council of Elders, just as the BN used to appoint its un-elected candidates to the Senate. And frighteningly, I might have read somewhere (I could be mistaken) that Pak Kadir Jasin could be back as the interim-official spokesperson for Mahathir government.

Wow, Michael J Fox and all that.

In the meanwhile, poor Guan Eng awaits his fate a la Damocles.
