PETALING JAYA: Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu has failed to keep his word in stopping his ministry's practice of awarding honorary ranks to politicians, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong (pic).
"Amirudin (Selangor Mentri Besar Amirudin Shari) is not just an ordinary leader. He is the Selangor Pakatan Harapan state chief.
"Adly (Melaka Chief Minister Adly Zahari) is a Melaka Parti Amanah Negara state leader, and Mohamad Sabu is the president of Amanah," said the MCA president in a Facebook post on Tuesday (July 23).
Dr Wee was responding to news that Amirudin had been made a honorary Brigadier-General in the army for his role as the patron of the Selangor Territorial Army Support Committee (JAKPAW).
Dr Wee pointed that Mohamad Sabu had announced on April 19 that the Defence Ministry has stopped the awarding of honorary ranks and the donning of military uniforms by politicians and celebrities.
"Only those who have undergone military training, such as in the Territorial Army, can wear uniforms," Mohamad Sabu reportedly said.
Dr Wee said the article which was published in a news portal has been shared by 21,300 users.
