Mahathir's fingers "close outwards"

would you like some milk?

camel's or goat's please and not cow's

One incontrovertible fact about Zakir Naik is that he is NOT a Malaysian citizen but one of India.

Is it Malaysia's duty to defend an Indian national against extradition to his home country?

What extraordinary or divine qualities does Zakir Naik possess that force or persuade PM Mahathir to protect and retain a FOREIGN national from being extradited by that man's own country?

I contrast Zakir Naik's molly-coddling treatment by Mahathir to the latter's call in early 2013 to change the Constitution so as to strip Ambiga Sreenevasan of her citizenship.

Yessiree, in 2013 Mahathir wanted to have Ambiga's citizenship stripped for being involved with BERSIH, a Malaysian NGO, and which Mahathir himself subsequently was involved with.

Shouldn't he strip himself of his own citizenship
 for being involved with BERSIH?

And to reiterate, now he is protecting a FOREIGN national from that man's own country.

Guppies, your lovable double standards hypocritical PM.

Penangites have a saying about such a person like Mahathir, to wit, "Ch'ew knia aow ch'ut", meaning (Mahathir's) "fingers close outwards", implying his loyalty is towards a foreigner rather than to his own Malaysians.

MM Online - Let Kit Siang be Dewan Rakyat Speaker, DAP Youth tells Pakatan Harapan (extracts):

anakku menteri tahukah, lu ada pun?

KUALA LUMPUR, July 13 — DAP’s Lim Kit Siang is the right choice for Dewan Rakyat Speaker as he has the experience and knowledge to carry out such a task, the party’s Youth wing has said.

There has been ongoing speculation on who will be appointed to the role. PKR’s Datuk Johari Abdul’s name was previously brought up, but he has since said that he will not be accepting the position.

Be warn. If LKS becomes Speaker, no one except the PM and his son the so-called FM (but really, a budak kecil in charge of piggy-bank Tabung Harapan) will get a chance to speak.

LKS will, as the House Speaker, monopolise the mike to tell you stories non-stop, but which will put every MP to sleep snoringly.

He'll regale you with salacious stories of how he spied Najib's son with the latter's Chinese GF in Taiwan, Monte Carlo, Timbuktu, Katmandu and Macau. He will demand Najib apologise for everything under the sun. He will also chastise AAB apologise for handing power over to Najib instead of hanging on. He may even criticise the memories of Tunku, Razak, Hussein Onn for lots and lots of things, all to distract you from calling Pakatan Harapan to account for breaking their "within 100 days" pledges.

But rest assure, he won't bring up stories in picture below. He doesn't have the guts, balls and mind to do so.

MM Online - Man submits documents to register marriage to 11-year-old (extracts):

wakakaka

KUALA LUMPUR, July 13 — A Kelantanese man who wed an 11-year-old Thai girl said he has submitted marriage documents to the Gua Musang religious office to formalise the nuptials in Malaysia.
Harian Metro reported the 41-year-old rubber tapper as saying that his first and second wives have now accepted his third marriage to the child.

“The religious office will deal with the Narathiwat Islamic Religious Council before my marriage with my third wife, who is also a Thai citizen, can be legally registered,” the man, who is also an imam at a surau in Gua Musang, Kelantan, was quoted as saying.

“Alhamdulillah, all wives can accept our marriage because I am fair to them including giving them each a house and a car.

“This is normal... at the beginning of the marriage, there will be a party (the second wife) who will get angry, but now her anger has subsided and she can accept my marriage to my third wife,” he added.

On July 9, the Kelantanese man was fined RM1,800 by the Shariah Court of Gua Musang for getting married and committing polygamy without permission.

Then, the excuse was the marriage was "legally" done in Thailand, outside the jurisdiction of the Malaysian Syariah authorities.

For what is Mahathir ignoring Indian extradition request?

FMT - Give the facts about Naik extradition, Putrajaya urged (extracts):

PETALING JAYA: Clear the air about Zakir Naik, a senior official of the Pakatan Harapan federal government said today, urging the foreign ministry or the Attorney-General’s Chambers to state whether a formal request had been received for the extradition of Naik, a controversial Indian-Muslim preacher.

The official said the two government agencies appeared to be contradicting each other.

“The government needs to establish the facts. Either the foreign ministry or the Attorney-General’s Chambers must immediately come out and clear the air as to whether they have received a formal request from India to extradite Zakir Naik.”

He raised the possibility that the Indian government might be mistaken about whether Putrajaya had received its request for the extradition of Naik.

Dr Ramasamy, DCM II Penang, confirmed today that India did send the extradition request in January. Malaysiakini reported (extracts):

Penang Deputy Chief Minister II P Ramasamy stated otherwise.

“A formal request has been made. The Indian authorities have informed me of this,” he told Malaysiakini this afternoon.

The Indian media yesterday quoted the republic's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Raveesh Kumar as stating that the formal request for Zakir's extradition was made in January this year.

"In January this year, we made a formal request for the extradition of Zakir. At this stage I can tell you that our extradition requests are under consideration by the Malaysian authority," Raveesh said.

He's fCking furious that Mamak is dragging his heels when the honour of an international treaty is at stake, though he ought to know Mamak doesn't give a shit about treaties, whether to Chin Peng or Singapore or China (ooops, all Cinapek lah). Maybe it's a first for non-Islamic India.

am I the only capati among the cinapeks?

The tok-kok thus far have been to save local Indian politicians' faces (eg. Gobind, Kula, etc) because the Imperator has already said fCk the Indian government, and thus no Malaysian official dares to initiate the extradition. Most quiet is Lim father-son team, wakakaka.

Mahathirism is truly alive and well today. Push the Zakir Naik extradition issue a bit more and Ops Lalang II may even occur, wakakaka.

Chinese Malaysians will protect Malay culture that Kelantan spurns

MM Online - Khairy rapped for ‘neglecting’ Malay roots (extracts):

KUALA LUMPUR, July 14 — An Umno lawmaker questioned whether Khairy Jamaluddin had forgotten Malay culture after the former party Youth chief criticised some members’ donation drive for embattled former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

Datuk Tajuddin Abdul Rahman said those party members’ solidarity with Najib, who has since been charged with three counts of criminal breach of trust and another of power abuse, is part of Malay culture in respecting their leaders and helping them when in need.

“Does Khairy not understand the Malay culture?” Tajuddin told Malay Mail yesterday.

It's not just Malay culture but also Chinese culture - recall how supporters of Lim Guan Eng collected more than RM1 million for his then-anticipated bail money when he was ABOUT to be charged for corruption regarding his bungalow purchase?

Hmmm, I wonder what happened to that more than RM1 million? Tabung Harapan or Tabung Simpan?

On same subject, to wit, Malay culture, let's read ...

... NST - Kelantan: Sexy dresses, indecent behaviour see more than 300 hauled up for counselling:

beautiful lah

KOTA BARU: More than 300 people in Kelantan have been slapped with notices to attend counselling sessions for wearing sexy dresses and behaving indecently at public places.
Kelantan Islamic Affairs Department (JAHEAIK) director Datuk Che Mohd Rahim Jusoh said the notices were issued in a series of operations carried out between January and last month.

“All of them were slapped with the notices and need to attend the counselling sessions in stages as set by the department.

“However, 80 per cent of them did not attend the counselling sessions.

“We will send them another notice urging them to attend the sessions,” said Che Mohd Rahim.

He said the department would not hesitate to take the matter to court if the individuals issued with the notices failed to turn up for the second round of counselling sessions.

Checks by NSTP at several shopping complexes and malls in the town area showed that many Muslim women were still wearing tight fitting clothes, exposing parts of their aurat.

Section 5(1) of Kelantan Syariah Criminal Code 1985 states that Muslims who were found guilty for acting or behaving in an “indecent manner” will be liable to be slapped with a fine of not more than RM1,000, imprisonment for a term of not more than six months, or both.

Those found guilty by JAHEAIK are required to attend a counselling session, but will be fined RM1,000 if they do not attend.

I wonder what would or could be defined as "behaving in an indecent behaviour"?

Like a 41-year old man marrying an 11-year old lil' girl?

indecent behaviour? The world says YES

that's why, so don't worry lah

Now, more on Malay culture, with an extract fromUnique artistry of Malay dancing in the 1950's posted in my other blog KTemoc Kongsamkok follows:

Today it seems to me the Malays have in the majority discarded or abandoned their quintessentially tradisi adat Melayu to opt for an Arabic culture, as if we live in a mid latitude desert-type environment instead of a low latitude humid tropical country.

Hmmm, is it necessary to observe and practice Islam only in an Arabic way?

Kelantan prohibits wayang kulit performances

wayang kulit is a century-old Malaysian-Kelantan cultural treasure

Meanwhile, from
Star Online (extracts only):
Khoo ... said that there’s nothing alien about the wayang kulit culture, to who the Malays are.

While religious practice among all Muslim is the same, your culture can be different and they are not irreconcilable. Many people say that wayang kulit is not Malay in essence.

“Its origins may be Indian, not Hindu, but it has been adapted and ingrained in Malay society. It expresses Malay sensibilities, states of being and, attitudes about love, death, war, jealousy and so on. So, this traditional art form is innately Malay,” asserts Khoo.

The wayang kulit is our national treasure. It behoves us, then, as Malaysians, to realise the importance of such traditions and culture in the face of modernisation. What else besides traditions and culture that can fill the hollowness experienced by many of us today?

“If you have no tradition, you have no culture,” concludes Abdul Rahman Dollah.

OK, leaving aside the Mak Yong and Wayang Kulit, perhaps it's time to ask what has happened to such stuff as the lovely sarong kebaya?

Ironically, the kebaya originated in the royal courts of the Majapahit era when the Javanese nobility adopted Islam as their religion. The kebaya evolved to modify the traditional Javanese women's sexy Kemban (torso wrap, also known asDhodot) into a modest dress more acceptable to the new religion of Islam.

sexy kemban (or dhodot) with sweet uncovered shoulders

a semi-transparent brocade blouse to cover bare shoulders turned the sexy kemban into an Islam-halal kebaya, and I like it very very much

complete it with a selendang to cover the head and Buotros' (Bob's) your uncle

But alas, today the kebaya, which as mentioned had ironically evolved to respect Islam, might have become non-halal in modern-day Malaysia. Regression?

However I believe we needn't worry too much at the potential loss of this beautiful Malay heritage as Chinese Malaysian sweeties love kebaya and will definitely maintain the gorgeous Malay dressing tradition, all complete with beautiful intricate kerongsang and silver or gold belt for the sarong.

photo 'borrowed' for non-commerical republishing from aaronkok.com
(thanks Aaron)

Kerongsang is the brooch (usually 3 pieces linked by a delicate chain) to 'pin' the kebaya front together (like buttons on a blouse); the brooches were usually of intricate Malayan design like flowers, leaves, birds, butterflies, dragonflies, etc

Kerongsang is/was made of precious metals, usually gold like the one in photo above, or gold inlaid with precious gems.

My late mum had a kerongsang of 3 carved jade goldfish joined by a gold chain (probably of less expensive jade as we were a pokkai family, wakakaka), but before her death, she gave to my cousin sister - sorry, my future sweetie.

Malaysiakini - Mahathir’s patently unfair cabinet:

by Gunasegaram

If fairness becomes secondary to your desire to hold the reins of power and to exercise any prerogative you may or may not have in your own favour, how much better are you than your predecessors?

how much better are you than your predecessor?

One can argue till the cows come home and one can muster all kinds of distorted reasoning to support one’s beloved leader and current hero, but there is only one fair way to allocate cabinet positions - it must reflect at least roughly the proportion of parliamentary seats the respective parties won.

Otherwise, it is simply not a reflection of the desire of the people as shown in the polls and one can draw a clear and unwanted parallel to the gerrymandering that has been prevalent in our polls for a long time whereby some constituencies are several times the size of others. Certainly not something that Pakatan Harapan, or the majority of Malaysians, want.

When we look at the composition of Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s cabinet, it is patently unfair and ridiculous. It represents a barely disguised attempt to usurp power in favour of his own Bersatu, which won only 13 of 52 seats it contested in Peninsular Malaysia, by far the worst showing of any of the component parties at a 25% win rate.

To illustrate how ridiculous the situation is, consider this: Bersatu has 13 MPs and all but two of them have become either ministers (6), deputy ministers (4) or menteri besar (Mahathir’s son Mukhriz who is Kedah menteri besar). Probably all MPs but Mahathir, Muhyiddin Yassin and Mukhriz are first-time MPs. So, up to eight first-time MPs have become either ministers or deputy ministers.

What a travesty of justice when long-time parties such as PKR and DAP who have many multiple-term MPs have been simply left out in the cold. PKR had many Malay MPs who could have easily filled positions much better than the raw, untested material that Bersatu had to offer besides Mahathir and Muhyiddin.

Let’s look at the proportion of parliamentary seats of each party relative to the proportion of members in the cabinet and deputies. The numbers for cabinet positions and deputies are taken from this article in Malaysiakini, which also highlights the severe under-representation of PKR and DAP in the cabinet.

The figures speak for themselves. While PKR has 39% of seats in the coalition, they have only 26% of cabinet positions. In contrast, Bersatu with 11% of seats has 22% of cabinet positions, double what they are entitled to. In terms of numbers, if the proportionate principle is applied, PKR should have 10 to 11 cabinet positions instead of seven, while Bersatu should have two to three instead of six.

PM’s prerogative
The sequence of events indicates a devious, orchestrated and managed attempt to shore up Mahathir’s power and give him much more control of the country and how it is run by using so-called prime ministerial prerogative to choose his cabinet, and using an organised campaign to push such views across.

The talk about such prime ministerial prerogative - which comes up over and over in online comments - is specious and holds no sway in a completely different context where Mahathir’s party is a minority partner in the coalition where the big boys are clearly PKR and DAP.

By using so-called public opinion, which sometimes is manipulated by planted opinions, and the myth that Mahathir alone won the elections for all Malaysians, he has chosen to ignore the basic rules in any coalition - consultation and consensus as far as that is possible.

He inveigled himself into the hearts of DAP by offering its supremo Lim Guan Eng the coveted finance minister’s position, apparently without prior consultation with PKR which had the highest number of seats in the coalition with 48. Anwar Ibrahim’s wife Wan Azizah Wan Ismail was named deputy prime minister.

After that, Mahathir could do no wrong in the eyes of the DAP and the DAP sang Mahathir’s praises and his so-called vision and foresight. When PKR’s Rafizi Ramli questioned why Mahathir was being non-consultative, he was roundly chastised - and rather rudely - by a storm of cybertroopers.

At the same time of the announcement of Lim as finance minister, other announcements of the core team were Muhyiddin as the home minister, which should have been offered to PKR considering that Mahathir was only going to be transitional prime minister until Anwar took over. Parti Amanah Negara president Mohamad Sabu took on the Defence Ministry.

Mahathir delayed the announcement of the full cabinet until July 4, an unprecedented almost two months after the elections. Instead he, simultaneously with the core ministers group, announced a Jedi-like council of elders or Council of Eminent Persons as it was formally known. This was headed by his close friend and controversial former finance minister Daim Zainuddin who many are uncomfortable with to this day.

This council seemed to be taking care of important matters instead of a properly constituted cabinet. Other members were former Bank Negara governor Zeti Akhtar Aziz, former Petronas CEO Hassan Marican, Hong Kong-based Malaysian tycoon 94-year-old Robert Kuok, and economics professor Jomo Kwame Sundaram.

Meantime, Mahathir’s tone became more vague about when he will step down as prime minister. Before he joined Harapan and Anwar’s campaign to oust Najib Razak, he said that he was not interested in becoming prime minister - he only wanted to help remove Najib. That changed to he does not mind that if the people wanted it but it will only be for a transition period of perhaps two years.

And then he said that he may have to stay on longer if it was needed and left open the date when Anwar would replace him. That has raised much concern within PKR, although many did not voice it the way Rafizi did, there is definite uneasiness within PKR about Mahathir’s intentions.

Cosy ties

But this did not seem to be the case with DAP, which struck a cosy relationship with Mahathir post Lim becoming finance minister, with both echoing each other about how bad the debt situation in the country was but providing little substance to their argument, as this article explains.

In fact, insiders say DAP played a big role in convincing Harapan to accept Mahathir as interim prime minister in favour of the straight and honest Wan Azizah who was considered not to be savvy enough when it comes to politics.

In fact, when the king asked Wan Azizah to form the new cabinet as the leader of the party with the highest seats (remember, they all, except for Warisan, contested under the PKR symbol), she politely turned him down and said the coalition has chosen Mahathir as the prime minister. Wan Azizah then went on to ask the king to pardon her husband, which he readily agreed to.

But Mahathir is not one to necessarily honour the spirit of agreements, which in the case of his position in Harapan meant that he needs to consult Harapan leaders even if he is prime minister. This is, after all, the new Malaysia. The prime minister’s party can no longer rule by itself. He needs the support of the others. His prerogative can be removed by his coalition partners by removing him as coalition leader. That is the way it should be. No more dictatorship through the exercise of prerogative.

DAP’s cosy relationship ended when Mahathir did not make adjustments in his final cabinet list. Rumblings of discontent over the final cabinet list spread through the DAP and Mahathir was criticised for not selecting members from the list submitted by the component parties.

Harapan’s mistake was not to agree on cabinet composition criteria before agreeing to Mahathir as prime minister and now the PM was exercising his prerogative. But it is a prerogative that must be exercised judiciously, repeat, judiciously.

In fact, one name which reports say he chose was PKR’s Azmin Ali (below) for the powerful economy ministry although this was not proposed by PKR because Azmin was already sworn in as Selangor menteri besar. That may have been done to further dilute Anwar’s influence by raising the alternative scenario of Azmin becoming prime minister in the future.

Prerogative does not mean a licence to appoint whoever and appoint political novices who have no proven expertise in any area into the cabinet. Two examples will suffice - Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman and Rina Harun.

There is no record I could find of Syed Saddiq ever having held a job. This 26-year old goes from a student straight into the cabinet as youth and sports minister when they are so many other more capable leaders within Harapan. Rina is rural and regional development minister and was a former Umno politician.
On the other hand, her deputy is prominent PKR lawyer and social activist R Sivarasa, one of those who has tirelessly been campaigning for decades against BN. How unfair is that?

Surely, this kind of blatant unfairness is not what Harapan wants. Mahathir’s excesses - and he does not have the power in terms of parliamentary seats to do this - can only be checked if the two main long-standing partners in Harapan stand together as one and do not let themselves be divided by anyone, and most of all the ever-wily Mahathir.

The lesson PKR and DAP should learn is to stick together and be united and remember why they wanted to overthrow BN in the first place. Otherwise, Mahathir is going to prove to be a menace in future insistent on doing it his way without due consultation.

Note: This article is the first in a series about Malaysia post-GE14. The next article deals with the question: Did Mahathir win the elections for Malaysians?

Sun Daily - Penang PPBM chief admits being a senator candidate:

BUTTERWORTH: Penang Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) chief Marzuki Yahya has revealed that he is one of the candidate from the party that will be appoint as a senator in the next Dewan Negara sitting.

He however said he was not sure whether the appointment has got to do with him being ascended to a deputy minister positions that are currently vacant in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) new cabinet.

"It is all up to the leadership,we'll just wait for the announcement", he told reporters after the state party Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house at Dewan Besar Sungai Dua here yesterday.

Marzuki said his appointment as senator will be made under PH PPBM quota for the position.

Penang has been won by mainly the DAP and PKR, with Amanah and Pribumi playing only a minority role. 37 out of the total 40 contested seats were won by Pakatan in Penang, where the DAP secured 19 while PKR won 14, with Amanah picking up 2 and Pribumi 2.

Thus, Pakatan Harapan is assured to two senator seats due to Penang. Please explain to me why Pribumi is getting one?

Furthermore, the bloke slated for one of the two senator seats is Marzuki Yahya, the Penang chief for Pribumi but who lost the federal seat of Tasek Gelugor to the BN in the last election in May.

rejected by voters yet will be the nation's deputy foreign minister

the UMNO formula

Pakatan is therefore breaking one of of its promises, namely, to NOT use the senate backdoor to promote an election losing candidate into the cabinet. It's said Marzuki Yahya will be the new deputy Foreign Minister.

PM Mahathir is just robbing the DAP and PKR of its due rights, to wit, one of the two senate seats. Then he breaks a solemn Pakatan promise to promote his Pribumi kaki into the cabinet via the backdoor.

MM - Rescind UEC recognition in seven days or face our wrath, Muslim groups tell Maszlee (extracts):

KUALA LUMPUR, July 14 — A coalition of Malay-Muslim groups has threatened to protest against Education Minister Maszlee Malik in seven days, should the latter ignore its call to not recognise the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC).

In a statement, Ummah said it has received the support of 10 lawyers to review and take action against Putrajaya’s recognition of the examination in independent Chinese schools.

Indeed, from the protest of this coalition of Malay-Muslim groups called Ummah, it would seem unacceptable for us Malaysians to be dabbling with a language other than Bahasa Malaysia (or if you prefer, Bahasa Melayu) in Malaysia's schooling system.

Perhaps we should agree to a recommendation that Malaysia henceforth abolishes and prohibits the use of ALL languages other than the Malay language from our schools, universities and public institutions including the Foreign Ministry (the last wakakaka).

Let's start off by banning the teaching and learning of English, Arabic, Javanese (hey you, bloody watch it), Indonesian, Farsi, Chinese, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Urdu, French, German, Russian, Italian, Japanese (ooops, there should always be an exemption and I reckon that today the Japanese should be the one).

GEORGE TOWN, July 14 — “I will continue with my principle of telling the truth. But if the truth scares off the investors, Malaysia too does not want such investors... we want investors who can listen to the truth,” said Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng.

Touching on the subject in his speech at the Aidilfitri Open House of Air Putih State Assemblyman, here last night, Lim said he would continue with his principle which is to tell the truth and looking for the truth.

Stop bullshitting. You've forgotten you told Anwar Ibrahim who had then advised you to cease and desist from your doomsday prophecy on Malaysia's financial standing. Malaysiakini - Harapan's plans to limit PM’s powers and strengthen Parliament (extracts):

The first sitting of Parliament following the 14th general election next week marks a historic moment as a new coalition takes over the legislative arm of government.

Pakatan Harapan has many plans in store to empower Parliament and restore its independence as part of its institutional reform efforts.

This Kiniguide takes you through the plans as outlined in the Harapan manifesto.

Restoring Parliament’s independence

One of the key planned parliamentary reforms is aimed at taking power away from the prime minister, and giving it to Parliament.

This would place Parliament in a position to keep Putrajaya in check.

To this effect, Harapan plans to revive and improve the Parliamentary Services Act (PSA) - which ironically was repealed by Dr Mahathir Mohamad in 1992 during his first round as prime minister.

Reinstating the PSA would restore Parliament's ability to manage itself administratively and financially, instead of being under the purview of the executive.

Now, reviving and improving the Parliamentary Services Act (PSA) will be a good move.

But consider, it had been Mahathir as PM in 1992, his 4th Reich, that he repealed the PSA so as to subjugate and control the Legislative. He had then rendered the august House of Parliament (Dewan Rakyat) into becoming his chattel.

He was a very oppressive PM, as was evident in his Ops Lalang where he has recently admitted was used (or misused) for his political ends.

FMT -
After sprint to PM’s Dept, new hurdle for Azmin in PKR? (extracts):

PETALING JAYA: PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali’s quick climb in the government may not sit well with the party’s more senior leaders, including its de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim, says an academic.

Political analyst Kamarul Zaman Yusoff said Azmin, who was appointed to the powerful portfolio of economic affairs under the Prime Minister’s Department, could face a challenge to his party post at the coming PKR congress.

He said Anwar could be going for the president’s post in an attempt to consolidate his position in PKR, as he prepares to take over the government from Dr Mahathir Mohamad, as promised to him before the general election last May.

FMT - Anwar to contest PKR president’s post (extracts):

PETALING JAYA: Anwar Ibrahim today announced that he would be contesting the post of PKR president.

Ending speculation on whether he would contest the post, Anwar said the decision was made after discussions with the party leadership.

The post is currently held by his wife Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, who is also the deputy prime minister.

Lately, there have been many views about the need for me to lead PKR and to replace Azizah as the president. I have carefully considered each opinion.

“And so, after discussing with Azizah, the deputy president, the leadership and after considering all the views and the needs of PKR, I offer myself as a candidate for the post of PKR president,” he said in a statement, adding that if given the mandate, he would assume the post after PKR’s national congress in November.

There has been much speculation about Anwar’s role in the party and whether he would consolidate his position.

Political analyst Kamarul Zaman Yusoff said PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali’s quick climb in the government might not sit well with the party’s more senior leaders, including Anwar, who is the party’s de facto leader.

Kamarul Zaman said Anwar could be going for the president’s post in an attempt to consolidate his position in PKR, as he prepares to take over the government from Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, as promised to him before the general election last May.

Once Azmin Ali was Anwar Ibrahim's blue-eyed boy who just could do no wrong in his mentor's view. Today Azmin is seen as a threat, a clear and present danger, to Anwar and family and someone who has severed his umbilical cord to Anwar. Azmin has reverted from being apple of Anwar Ibrahim's eyes to again being nephew to Uncle Maddy.

Aeons back, when a gangling young Azmin faced the real and un-real world of UMNO politics, t'was Uncle Mahathir who told best-matey Anwar to 'get' a job for nephew Azmin. The rest is UMNO-PKR history.

In PKR's history, Anwar played intervention on many occasions to ensure Azmin rose in the party's hierarchy, sidelining for example Nallakaruppan in an earlier party election for the VP post which would have been easily won by Nalla due to overwhelming Indian membership in PKR at one stage, but only for Anwar to instruct Nalla at the very last minute to stay out of that election and allow Azmin to win the last of the VP positions.

Recently Mahathir intervened, intruded and interfered with PKR's nominations for ministerial positions to DIRECTLY appoint Azmin Ali as Economics Minister, against the PKR official list.

Malaysiakini journalist Gunasegaram confirmed my suspicions about Mahathir's sinister intention in his article in Malaysiakini which stated:

In fact, one name which reports say he chose was PKR’s Azmin Ali for the powerful economy ministry although this was not proposed by PKR because Azmin was already sworn in as Selangor menteri besar.

That may have been done to further dilute Anwar’s influence by raising the alternative scenario of Azmin becoming prime minister in the future.
We have known for years that Mahathir hated Anwar, mind, not because of the Sodomy accusation-conviction-implications (that was Mahathir's excuse to fCk up Anwar kaukau), but because Anwar tried to oust the Imperator from his PM position in 1997-8.

Mahathir never ever forgets nor forgives any disloyalty from his mentees, which has been why he is fCk-ing Najib up as much as he had fCk-ed Anwar up - imprisonment for disloyalty would be the absolute minimum to salve the Mahafiraun's conceit.

Thus, how could he ever pass the PM-ship to a man he detests and in fact hates. If he can't pass it on to Mukhriz (who is a nice person and not quite up to cutthroat treachery of Malaysian politics) he would prefer to pass it on to a nephew (in hope that Nephew would look after Mukhriz, as he had expected Najib to do so, wakakaka).

Poor Anwar, who has been out of circulation for a couple of decades, sees staggering odds against him and family, and now further aggravated by a Mahathir-sponsored Azmin Ali. He has finally decided that waiting for 2 years is just 2 years too long, and in reality a likely bullshit when confronted with a Mahathir who has no intention of stepping down as promised, especially when the Imperator has a standby in a 41st stalking horse called Azmin.

What more, former anwaristas have gullibly and moronically become dumbo mindless idiotic mahathiristas. Each day Anwar grows weaker in political strength.

Anwar has now gone for broke. It's now or never.

As for Azmin, you can never tell about his feelings towards his erstwhile guru and best matey. But I suppose we can only suspect his personal feelings today might possibly be "55% ambition + 45% asutan Maddy".

UEC recognition in perhaps 59 years time?

MM Online - BM safe regardless of UEC decision, minister says again:

KUALA LUMPUR, July 15 — Education Minister Maszlee Malik gave his assurance that the status of Bahasa Malaysia will not be affected whether the government recognises the Unified Examinations Certificate (UEC) for the public sector or not.

He stressed that his ministry is still studying the matter and has not yet made a decision.

“Once again, I want to stress that whatever decision we make on the recognition of the UEC, it will be comprehensive and holistic, without jeopardising the position of Bahasa Melayu as the national language,” he said in a statement.

He said that although Pakatan Harapan had promised to recognise the Chinese school leaving certificate, the equivalent of SPM, in its 14th general election manifesto, as the government now, it has to “consider the standing of Bahasa Melayu as the national language and how the decision to recognise UEC may affect the country’s harmony”.

fCk the world's recognition of UEC - we don't want Malaysia to do so because it's a Chinese certificate

Maszlee has come under fire after saying last Thursday that he would fulfil the electoral pledge regarding the UEC.

His critics, including Umno Youth Chief Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, claimed that recognising the UEC would throw the country’s education into disarray and hamper national identity and racial integration efforts.

His initial brave words just a mere 2 days ago on recognising the UEC, namely,“We are going to make sure whatever policy that we have to make or whatever decision we are making, there will be no U-turn or any flip-flop, and it has to be holistic”, sounds rather hollow now.

His "there will be no U-turn or any flip-flop" is conditional on "whether the government recognises the Unified Examinations Certificate (UEC) for the public sector or not, and that ... his ministry is still studying the matter and has not yet made a decision."

From his words 2 days ago the decision has obviously been made, but he's now singing a different song, backtracking, U-turning and flip flopping.

On the top of the unseen protesters is likely to be Mahathir himself.

Mahathir was the man who first threatened the Chinese Independent Schools (MICSS) on the UEC and warned them not start this private line of educational accreditation.

above may explain his choice of ministers

Guan Eng oy Guan Eng, wakakaka

In 1975, when the MICSS decided to hold its first Unified Examination, the Chinese education leaders were summoned to Parliament by then Education Minister, Mahathir, and were told in no uncertain terms to cancel the examination “or else…!” and who then dismissed them like mandores with an imperialistic "That's all!"

Now we hear from Pribumi new fairy tales of PH only including recognition of the UEC among the 60 pledges which needn't be fulfilled immediately - perhaps in 59 years time?

Religion or man advocating killings?

Malaysiakini - Posters ‘legitimising' Syerleena’s murder appear on Facebook (extracts):

Seri Delima assemblyperson Syerleena Abdul Rashid is up in arms over malicious Facebook posters “legalising” (menghalalkan) her murder for allegedly betraying Islam and attacking its religious institutions.

One poster, which has gone viral on social media, bears the calls to violence: “Her blood is halal, and it is not a sin to kill her."

Another poster states: "She betrayed Islam. She ought to be killed, because as a Muslim she is colluding with Chinese infidels (Cina kafir harbi) to attack Muslim institutions.”

Accompanying the poster is an image of her giving a speech, superimposed with the caption "I vow to attack Islamic institutions, especially Jakim (Islamic Development Department), for the sake of DAP."

Syerleena had previously denied the claims which first surfaced last year, and re-emergedas she went on the 14th general election campaign trail.

According to the DAP lawmaker, the posters containing the threats appeared on the Facebook pages of users Yanz AB Rahman and Fitri AMRR.

A similar poster by a user named Khairul Anwar Ismail said: “I am on standby and I am just waiting for the siren to sound.”

"This is a clear death threat and a threat to my safety,” Syerleena said.

“The worst comment is on a Facebook post by one Ja Gmum, who uploaded the post on July 13, which has been shared more than 379 times.

"I urged the police and the Communications and Multimedia Commission to act swiftly. The situation is serious, I'm afraid if this does not stop soon, my life will be in grave danger," she added
.

Despite ultra religious fanatics' professed devoted obedience to God or Allah swt or this Deity or that Deity, etc, they want to usurp their Almighty's prerogative over life & death.

I wonder whether those fanatics know the meaning of the word 'usurp'? For our discussion, the dictionary defines 'usurp' as 'take the place of (someone in a position of power) illegally; supplant.'

That (someone in a position of power) is God or Allah swt.

Thus, our religious fanatics here (in the case of Syerleena Abdul Rashid) want to illegally take over the place of Allah swt, obviously to pass 'final judgement' on Syerleena.

Most religious fanatics, whether orthodox Jews, Christians, Muslims, Hindus or in the very unusual case of Myanmar, (normally peace-loving compassionate) Buddhists, love to kill (excuse my oxymoron) or at least pronounce the death sentence on innocent people whom they dislike or hate, by usurping their Almighty's prerogative.

Take for example the religious demagogue, Zakir Naik - see his death sentence for some ex Muslims below:

As I had frequently mentioned, modern civilisation promotes humanity, love, compassion, social welfare and tolerance, all of which do away with the barbaric practices of slavery, torture and capital punishment.

On the last, the death sentence, there is much missing in the moral standards and humanity of nations like the USA, Singapore, China, India, Pakistan, North Korea, Israel, Iran, Japan, all Arab nations because they have in their respective legislation capital punishments for crimes which were determined by mortal beings, not the Almighty. It's just legalised state murder of human beings.

Iran and Saudi Arabia even execute minors (below 18 years old at time of their so-called crimes).

Most ironically, the death sentence in the West hailed from religious teachings in the Bible, though I have to say the Holy Book were written by mortal beings.

Western (especially American) religious attitudes toward the death penalty are largely formed by the Judeo-Christian ethic and based on the so-called lex talionis (the law of retaliation, whereby a punishment resembles the offence committed in kind and degree), in other words, the “eye for an eye” law of ancient Judaism.

The above is further aggravated by Genesis 9:6 (KJV), in which God instructed Noah:

Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.
If a nation or an individual professes to follow Christian, Islamic, Hindu, or Judaist values, be respectful of your respective God (not what mortal man wrote in the Bible), as Europe, Australia, NZ, Canada have shown, and refrain from usurping the Almighty's divine ultimate prerogative on lives and deaths.

It is indeed sad, disappointing and disrespectful to Allah swt that some Malaysian ulamak have failed to moderate the hotheads from their vile and blasphemous usurping of the prerogative of the Almighty, to pronounce death on a fellow human being.

Some ulamak had even provoked such disrespect to Allah swt by talking about kafir harbi (infidels against whom Muslims may wage war against, in short, may justifiably kill).

Algeria is thus far the only Arab nation to have abolished capital punishment, in fact as a moratorium in 1993 and officially in 2012.

Algeria

Tunisia

In Tunisia - According to Human Rights Watch, which based its estimate on an interview with an official from the Ministry of Justice, there were around 140 prisoners sentenced to death in Tunisia as of February 2011. [3] Courts infrequently impose death sentences. [4]

It is said that former President Ben Ali almost systematically commuted death sentences. [5]

During Tunisia’s 2008 review by the U.N. Working Group on the Universal Periodic Review, the Minister of Justice and Human Rights of Tunisia declared that “the files of those sentenced to death are periodically submitted to the procedure of death penalty commutation.”

Thus there is hope that Tunisia may follow the humane example of Algeria.

Malaysia? Makes you wonder how Malaysia will ever abolish the barbaric evil capital punishment, when some of our conservative clerics even advocated the slaying of kafir harbi?

in 2016 Abdul Rahman Osman, the mufti of Pahang, stated that those who oppose Islam are deserving of the title ‘kafir harbi’

Ustaz Engku Ahmad Fadzil’s (of the Malaysian Institute for Islamic Strategic Research, or Iksim) ... argued that the default stance for Muslims to take against non-Muslims is one of vigilance, discretion, and restrained animosity.

To build his case, he extracted from the Qur’an evidences such as verse 191 of Chapter 2, which explicitly orders Muslims to slay their non-Muslim foes

Khazanah should not be forced to dispose of assets to individuals

M Shanmugam, The Star

PRIME Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad commanded the support of the majority in forming a new Malaysia. A sizeable number in government-linked companies (GLCs) were and are still with the 93-year-old prime minister in his mission to reform the government and reduce excesses.

But his plan to change the way some GLCs and their parent company work would not draw the same support as he had garnered during the 14th general election.

Corporate Malaysia still remembers what went wrong during Dr Mahathir’s previous reign as Prime Minister.
In an interview with a foreign online news portal, Dr Mahathir did not hide his disdain for the remuneration that executives in GLCs receive.

He also said that the ownership of companies under Khazanah was supposed to be only temporary on behalf of bumiputras but has become a permanent feature in the sovereign wealth fund (SWF).

If one remembers Malaysia’s corporate history, one of the reasons Khazanah has evolved in the last 15 years to become what it is today is because of the failed strategies to increase bumiputra equity ownership previously.

In the early days, bumiputra individuals were given shares in companies during listing. But the individuals sold out when the prices appreciated.

Hence, no matter how many new shares bumiputra individuals were allocated, the share of ownership in listed companies failed to meet the 30% target set by the government.

Then, the government adopted the strategy to create bumiputra “champions” by giving individuals opportunities in business.

The individuals, known as the coterie of corporate kingpins groomed by former Finance Minister Tun Daim Zainuddin, controlled large companies such as Renong Bhd, TRI Resources Bhd that owned Celcom, Malaysia Airlines Bhd (MAS) and Land & General Bhd. Their corporate ownership of these companies contributed to the increase in bumiputra ownership among listed companies.

When Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim took over as Finance Minister in 1991, he had his own set of bumiputra “champions”. They controlled the likes of Malaysian Resources Corp Bhd (MRCB) and the media companies under Umno.

The 1998 economic crisis was a watershed year for corporate Malaysia. Many companies fell under the weight of debt and exposure to the sudden depreciation of the ringgit.

The majority of companies owned by bumiputra “champions”, despite being awarded the best of government contracts and concessions from toll highways to power plants, succumbed under the weight of debts.

The individuals owning the companies relied on the stock market to get funding for their ownership of shares. When the stock market collapsed in 1997/98, it was a double whammy for the bumiputra champions. They were in trouble individually and so were their companies.

Worse still, the companies severely lacked corporate governance, something that did not go down well with both local and foreign investors. There were several instances where the major shareholders had violated basic rules of governance for their benefit or for those close to them.

It was a drag on the stock market as a whole.

In stepped Khazanah to take over the assets of the companies owned by the bumiputras. Among them were the likes of Renong, MAS and TRI, which is now part of Axiata Group Bhd.

The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) landed a majority stake in MRCB, while Boustead Holdings Bhd took over PSC Industries Bhd.

The takeovers were deemed as necessary because these companies held national assets and were viewed as “too big to fail”. Also, companies such as Renong, although asset-heavy, had debts of RM20bil and were viewed as posing a systemic risk to the banking system.

After taking over the assets, Khazanah led a 10-year programme to re-engineer the GLCs starting from 2005. Governance improved by leaps and bounds and professional managers were brought in to manage the companies.

The net worth of companies under Khazanah was RM125.6bil as of the end of last year. It has been declaring dividends to the government as and when the government requires it. Unlike some of the SWFs within Malaysia and neighbouring countries, Khazanah has not gone into disastrous investments.

There are no scandals like what happened in 1Malaysia Development Bhd.

There are some tough investments such as those in MAS and Proton Holdings Bhd, both legacy assets. Khazanah has disposed of Proton while the airline is slated for a listing within the next two years despite the tough environment it operates in.

On the same score, Khazanah has nurtured several regional companies such as Axiata, IHH Healthcare Bhd and the CIMB group.

It has a large team looking at investments in technology and some have reaped benefits such as its stake in Alibaba.

Khazanah is also an employer to a host of young and talented bumiputras who would otherwise not easily find opportunities to gain experience in the corporate world.

As a policy, most Khazanah companies such as Tenaga Nasional Bhd restrict the award of jobs to only companies that are majority bumiputra-owned.

So, the wealth is distributed to a whole lot of bumiputra companies instead of being concentrated with individuals.

The grouses against Khazanah are that it is slow in disposing of its assets to the private sector and that the professional managers are too highly paid.

The view among some such as Daim is that the success of companies under Khazanah is due in part to the government and that the professional managers should not earn real “private sector” salaries.

To rectify the problem, the new government can set a benchmark on what is the acceptable level of remuneration the executives in GLCs they want to retain should earn. The choice should be left to the executives if they want to stay on.

There could be many who want to opt out. And hopefully, the replacements are just as good or better.

As for Khazanah’s disposal of assets, there are some basic principles that the SWF has adhered to so far.

Firstly, the acquirer has to be a company that is majority-controlled by a bumiputra. Secondly, the disposal exercise has to go through a competitive tender process.

So far, among others, Khazanah has sold its stakes in Time dotCom Bhd, Proton and Pharmaniaga Bhd.

Among the notable assets of Renong and the UEM Group that Khazanah took over and still holds are the PLUS highways, a cement plant, a property and construction arm and a company that provides environmental services,

The gem is obviously PLUS Expressways Bhd that has drawn interest from a few parties in the past. But its disposal is something that the government has to consider carefully because the highways are an essential part of the national transport system.

Khazanah currently owns 51% of PLUS Expressways, with the EPF owning the other 49%. Whatever benefits PLUS Expressways derives, it goes back to the government and members of the provident fund.

One must remember that toll rates for the national highway have not been increased since 2008 despite PLUS Expressways putting in several requests. It, however, got extensions to the concessions.

Taking cognisance of the fact that the Pakatan Harapan government wants to abolish toll rates, Khazanah would have a proposal on how to achieve the objectives of the new government. It would not harbour any hopes for toll rate hikes now.

Nevertheless, should PLUS Expressways fall into the hands of individuals or private companies, would the government be able to exert influence on the company? Would it garner the same confidence from bankers should there be a freeze or removal of toll rates?

The new government should not force Khazanah to dispose its assets. By merely stating that Khazanah was supposed to hold the assets on behalf of bumiputras is not good enough because that was never the case to begin with.

The assets had to be taken over using taxpayers’ money post the 1998 crisis because these companies and their owners were deemed as “too big to fail”.

The disposal, if any at all, should be for the greater good of the bumiputras in the new Malaysia as a whole and not to benefit any individuals. The return of crony capitalism is something that is not desired.

The last thing we need now is to go back to the old ways of creating another Renong-styled company owned by individuals with sweetheart deals aided by lop-sided contracts.

Star Online - Najib's seating in Parliament shows he is still powerful, says Kit Siang (extracts):

anakku mentri tahukah, lu ada?

PETALING JAYA: Pekan MP Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak's prominent seating arrangement in Parliament shows that he is still the most significant force in Umno and Barisan Nasional despite having no title or position in the party, says Iskandar Puteri MP Lim Kit Siang.

The DAP stalwart said Najib's second placing in the Opposition seats in the august house signifies that he is still influential in the party.

This is despite him resigning as Barisan chairman and Umno president to take responsibility for the coalition's loss at the 14th general election, Lim said.

“Otherwise, Najib would not have higher precedence in the parliamentary seating arrangement than the newly elected Umno leaders like vice-president (Datuk Seri) Ismail Sabri, secretary-general (Tan Sri) Annuar Musa, or senior supreme council member (Datuk Seri) Mustapa Mohamad,” Lim said.

The DAP veteran argued that Najib's seating arrangement was significant as it shows that Barisan MPs were not prepared to break ranks and hold the former premier accountable for the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) scandal.

“It is very sad if Pakatan Harapan and Warisan MPs are the only MPs in the 14th Parliament who are prepared to perform their patriotic duties,” Lim said
.

What's with this Ah Pek?

He seems unduly obsessed with a fallen politician, who went from being PM to back-bencher.

Previously he had warned that Najib would be up to no good on Parliament's Opening session. Now he's agitated by Najib's seating position.

He is so damn silly-crazy that he has even suggested that BN MPs in not breaking ranks were NOT as patriotic as PH MPs. What a crock of ultra Kit-Siang shit.

Undeniably Lim KS is a plain trouble maker, a shit-stirrer, an agent provocateur. Next he may even complain about the colour of Najib's underwear.

But why hasn't he brought up again those issues he had been raving and ranting about for 30 odd years. Ah Pek lupa kah?

Please STFU if he has nothing constructive to contribute.

The Fall of Anwar Ibrahim?

Malaysiakini - Leery about Anwar's intent to contest for PKR chief (extracts):

It's a measure of the drop in the standing of Anwar Ibrahim in PKR that his announcement yesterday he would contest the president's post was treated with deep scepticism by detractors within the party.

PKR's polls are scheduled for end August to early September. The closing date for nominations is July 29.

These days, remarks about the loftiness of Anwar's stock in PKR emerge only from outright courtiers, such as secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, who recently described the party's de facto leader as someone of “incomparable” standing in PKR.

Saifuddin's fawning is as amateurish as an autograph hunter's.

Others in the party, of more sober mien, maintain a politic silence about Anwar's plans, while others regard his statement of intent to contest as credible only if his wife is publicly unequivocal about standing aside for her husband.

Already, word has emanated from another flunkey that Wan Azizah ought to be made party chairperson.

Presumably, this will enable her to maintain her post as deputy prime minister in the ruling Pakatan Harapan federal government, while Anwar gets around to contesting for a parliamentary seat which, in addition to being PKR president, would bring him closer to being prime minister of the ruling coalition.

After all, what was make-believe (ketua umum or party supremo) with respect to her husband's position in the party all these years can be made to be so for the wife.

Bad, albeit exigent practices – such as the one that in 2007 saw Anwar conferred the title of de facto leader because he, at that time, was still under a five-year ban from holding positions in political parties – are set to be perpetuated in PKR should Wan Azizah be made party chairperson.

The party has had, of necessity in exigent circumstances, one "ketua umum" (de facto leader); it does not need as party chairperson, a label with no constitutional validity, for someone who only last year in an interview with Al Jazeera said she regarded herself as a “seat warmer.”

But the danger is seat warmers can, over time, become convinced that forms of going through the motions is actually the real thing.

Anwar's detractors have grown so leery of his word that unless his wife unequivocally declares her withdrawal, they believe that her husband's announcement of intent to contest is a gambit to forestall a challenge for the position by the current deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali.

Azmin will not contest the presidency should Anwar be the sole candidate for the post.

This is not from excessive deference to the de facto leader of PKR, as it is acceptance of realpolitik.

Fallen as Anwar's current stock may be in the party, a challenge by Azmin would be construed by the party faithful as an attempt at impudent supercession, given what the supremo has had to endure of Umno's victimisation over the past two decades.

Terence Netto is correct in his opening remark, to wit, It's a measure of the drop in the standing of Anwar Ibrahim in PKR ... because we have all noticed that with the new Sun of Mahathir outshining his mere manmanlai Moonlight. Erstwhile anwaristas have already told Anwar (some aggressively, some rudely) not to kacau, to be patient, and to wait for his turn ... which of course may never come so long as Mahathir is the PM, wakakaka.

The fact that Terence Netto, once a pro Anwar journalist, has penned the above Malaysiakini article, shows the monumental drop, nay, plummet in Anwar Ibrahim's standing.

Yusof Rahmat in FB wrote:

Something gone very wrong in many peoples' heads lately:

1) Anwar cannot comment, others can.

2) Anwar cannot travel anywhere but others can.

2) Prime Minister in waiting cannot, which was already agreed by PH leaders before GE14.

3) Now running for President in own party also cannot.

Very soon ...

4) Anwar cannot even be allowed to cook in his kitchen, because many would then say, Anwar is trying cook up something in his kitchen.

Malaysiakini - Sometimes can, sometimes can't – manifesto not 'bible': Dr M (extracts):

Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad drew a comparison between the ruling coalition's manifesto and the Bible.

With regard to the manifesto, he said Pakatan Harapan need not adhere to the letter of the text.

Responding to a question at a press conference in Parliament, Mahathir admitted that Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof's appointment as Dewan Rakyat speaker was not in accordance with the manifesto, which stipulated that the speaker should be appointed from among MPs.

"(Yes), but for certain reasons, we cannot adhere to the actual manifesto. Please remember that the manifesto is not a Bible, it is a guidance.

"Sometimes we can do things, but sometimes we find that we cannot, so we have to be practical-minded," he said

MM Online - Kelantan child bride’s husband says wanted to marry her since she was 7 (extracts):

IPOH, July 16 — The 41-year-old rubber tapper who married an 11-year-old girl in Kelantan reportedly said today he had wanted to tie the knot with the girl since she was seven years old.

The father of four told BH Online today that news of his marriage had only shocked the outside world, as most of the villagers and his friends had known about his wish for a while.

The man said he had told his friends, and even shown them a picture of the girl, known as Ayu, while he was in the holy land of Mecca.

Most of them, he said, had agreed to the union as the girl was not in school and came from a poor family.

The 41-year-old said he was unsure what made him feel like marrying the girl, but claimed it was not driven by desire.

Instead, he reiterated his claim that he wanted to protect Ayu and provide welfare for her.

“When news of our marriage spread, only outsiders were shocked because most of the villagers and my friends knew about it for a while,” he was quoted as saying.

“I knew Ayu since she was small because we were neighbours, and I also taught Al-Quran lessons to her ... it was then I told myself ‘one day I will take this girl as my wife’ and I did so four years later.”

“Believe me death and jodoh (destined partner) comes from Allah insult me if you must, but I am not scared or dissuaded from going through with the marriage because my new responsibility is teaching her to be closer to Allah.”

Allah swt has been dragged into the shame of the man's desire to have a 7-year old partner as his bed partner whether HIS Divine Self likes it or not or especially whether HE has approved or not. By the by, the man is a Muslim.

Mariam Mokhtar wrote in her Malaysiakini column titled The child bride: Cook, cleaner, prostitute and nurse (extracts):

... the sale of baby girls is the offer of marriage made on behalf of teenage, or pre-pubescent daughters, to older men, like the recent marriage of an 11-year-old to a 41-year-old man.

An 11-year-old girl knows only what her parents tell her. She does not know about falling in love. She will never feel fulfilled without an education, or be able to explore her full potential.

She will be trapped in the cycle of looking after her old man, falling pregnant, taking care of her babies, and in a few years, not just deal with her own hormone-raging-teenage children who are only a few years younger than her, but also her husband who is senile, and probably has erectile dysfunction and double incontinence.

It would be a terrific bonus if she was enterprising enough to start a home business, like making kuih-muih or simple needlework, so he could live off her income.

If she were a headstrong woman, her husband might replace her with a younger model, by divorcing her and dumping her without any financial help, or perhaps send her packing to her family. After all, the Malay man is aware that syariah laws are very poorly enforced.

For the price of a small dowry, the man who marries a child bride is able to engage the services of a maid, baby-maker, child-carer, houseminder, cook, "lust satisfier" and more importantly, a nurse to care for him in his old age.

All in all, not a bad deal, eh?

I wonder what the Minister for Women, Family and Community Development will do other than to dismiss the shame as a legal act even though the bloke had to marry in Thailand outside Malaysian syariah jurisdiction.

And stop waving her Princess Iron Fan's magic apparatus - the shame won't go away. You as the Women Minister has failed the Malay community miserably.

Additionally, I advise her deputy minister to stay clear, and not take the heat on behalf of your superior.

Mahathir's childish merajuk on Malaysian rejection of his 2nd national car

MM Online - ‘Just forget about Vision 2020’, Dr M says amid icy reception over new national car:

KUALA LUMPUR, July 16 — Malaysia will just become “a nation of consumers” if its people are unwilling to take a risk and set up a second national car, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said today.

This comes amid mixed feedback regarding the prime minister’s proposal to come up with a second national car. [...]

Last month, Dr Mahathir said the Pakatan Harapan government was looking to introduce a new national car, as Proton, that was founded by him in 1983, had been bought by Chinese automotive manufacturer Geely last year.

Dr Mahathir also said that Malaysia might start the national car brand with another country — namely Thailand, South Korea or Japan.

“But we are already rejecting the idea of a second national car early on, and thereby, stop any suggestion of having the private sector produce cars. Surely, the government will not have a government-owned automotive industry,” Dr Mahathir argued today, defending his proposal. [...]

“In the end, Proton is sold to foreigners. There is no more national car, no more automotive industry. Workers, engineers, managers have lost their jobs. Everything deteriorates,” Dr Mahathir said
.

Such childish rant, macam budak merajuk selepas ibubapak ta'beri duit beli aiskrim.

Technological advances needn't come from a car, which has been Mahathir's obsession and fantasy. His Proton has been proven to be a severe failure, a costly disaster costing taxpayers billions. That wasteful project only benefited a few cronies, but disadvantaged Malaysians with a lousy expensive car. We cannot and must not tolerate his expensive hobby at taxpayers' money.

Look at Singapore - no car industry but it can build 5 (not just one) missile-guided stealth naval frigates as the one shown below, zillion light years superior in technology and engineering skills than a joke of a car like Proton:

Lim KS crazy-obsessed with Najib (2)

MM Online - Kit Siang insists Najib is de facto Umno leader (extracts):

I know everything - btw, do you know my son is the finance minister (in charge of Tabung Harapan piggy-bank)? What about your son?

KUALA LUMPUR, July 17 — Umno’s offer for Tan Sri Apandi Ali and Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia to be supreme council members show that Datuk Seri Najib Razak remained firmly in control of the party, claimed DAP’s Lim Kit Siang.

The Iskandar Puteri MP insisted that only Najib would want either the former attorney-general (AG) or the ex-Speaker of Parliament within the ranks of the party’s leadership.

“I believe that if the Umno president, Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi, had a choice, he would have kept a great distance from both Apandi and Pandikar.

“But Najib is the de facto Umno president, and Zahid, although the Umno president, has to do Najib’s bidding,” Lim purported in a statement today
.

With Mahathir firmly ensconced on his imperial throne in his 7th Reich - Sieg Heil - this Maddy-balls-carrier has nothing else to do but to worry about Najib (chiefly because of the duration of his son's FM position).

Previously, prior to the beginning of the 14th Parliamentary session, he accused Najib of being up to something no-good, then he fretted unnecessarily and kaypohchee-ly about Najib's sitting position on the opposition bench, and now he has to once again accused Najib, this time of being in control of UMNO.

Are those his fCk-ing business?

As if being obsessed about Najib and his dandruff and colour of his cawat weren't enough, the pompous (son being FM of Malaysia) treacherous Mr Sellout is also a seer (bomoh) as he is able to know how Zahid Hamidi, if having a choice, would have kept a great distance from both Apandi and Pandikar.
